Meeting Details:
February 25, 2014 Gerrard Thomas will be joining us this month to discuss Agile Development, a lean software development methodology used to accelerate time to market compared to traditional waterfall development. Agile is an iterative, incremental method of managing and delivering projects executed in a highly flexible and interactive manner which requires empowerment of team members with continuous feedback from lines of business, analysts, developers, and testing. Scrum style meetings such as daily stand up, planning, and retrospectives are also used. Many organizations are considering moving to Agile and utilizing distributed teams (multi site, outsourced, Nearshore) in order to better meet delivery timeframes, decrease costs, and respond more quickly to market needs. Gerrard is the Director of Client Services for 4th Source, a position he has held for over six years. He is responsible for managing Sales support, managing the Nearshore team, project delivery, and Business Intelligence Strategy. Gerrard has over 20 years of Information Technology experience including project and technical management, solution architecture, software design and development, and sales support. Prior to joining 4th Source, he served as a Development Director for Oracle Upstream where he was responsible for delivering Oracle Applications to clients like Kerr McGee, Phillips and Shell Oil. In addition to software development, he has worked in many different industries including, Cable/Telecom, Financial Services, Insurance, Defense and Healthcare. Gerrard also served as the VP of Product development at RunMoney Corporation where he was responsible for product development and managing the IT team. Gerrard has traveled extensively in Latin America including Puerto Rico, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica and Spain; he is also fluent in Spanish.
