What is an ORAchk and How Can it Make You a Better DBA - Troy Ligon

Due to some last minute work conflicts with the presenter, our originally scheduled DynDNS session has been pushed out to October. It's been a while since we've had a new installment of Troy's Tools, so this seems like the perfect opportunity for our very own Oracle ACE and SOUG President, Troy Ligon, to step in with another one of his typically entertaining and informative presentations.

Oracle systems can be complex¿ especially RAC environments. ORAchk is a tool provided by Oracle to perform health checks on the entire stack of Oracle software and hardware. This month, I will demonstrate how to install ORAchk, how to run it, and then show how to use the results to analyze your RAC and non-RAC systems. I'll provide examples of real ORAchk results for analysis during the presentation.

With over 35 years of IT experience (30 of that focused on Oracle technology), Troy has travelled extensively, serving a variety of customers primarily in the Public Sector, Manufacturing, and Financial Services sectors. Troy is currently a Senior Staff Engineer, leading the Oracle DBA team for the Prepaid and Gift Card division of American Express. In addition to being a long-standing leader in our local SOUG, Troy is also on the Board of Directors of the IOUG. Troy recently earned the status of Oracle ACE, joining an elite group of less than 700 professionals so recognized for their Oracle expertise and contributions to the Oracle community.
