Ansible Automation - Troy Ligon

As you contemplate your migration into this new era of Cloud architectures, with their promise of nearly infinite scalability, don't forget that these promises come with definite challenges you'll need to overcome. If you're like me, when I listen to talk about being able to almost instantly spin up new cloud servers and cloud databases at will, all I can think about is "How am I going to manage all of these new environments?" Given the constraints of finite headcounts that most of us have to live with, your road to salvation is definitely down the Automation and AI path.

In this month's session, SOUG President Troy Ligon will start you along your automation journey with an introduction to one of the most popular automation frameworks in use today, Ansible. We'll provide a brief introduction to Ansible along with some concrete, working examples that you can take back to the office and use. And the best part is that you don't have to wait until you are in the Cloud to leverage the advantages of Ansible. It is just as valuable for automating the management of your traditional On-Premises environments.
  • Learning Objective #1: Understand the basic architecture of Ansible
  • Learning Objective #2: Understand the YAML syntax for Ansible scripts
  • Learning Objective #3: Gain some useful example Ansible scripts

With over 35 years of IT experience (30 of that focused on Oracle technology), Troy has travelled extensively, serving a variety of customers primarily in the Public Sector, Manufacturing, and Financial Services sectors.
