Company Overview: 

Runner Technologies specializes in Web Application Development Tools, Address Hygiene solutions, and custom application development and consulting.  Orbit is a Web application development suite for rapidly building Oracle-enabled web applications in pure thin client.  Orbit is an excellent solution for moving client-server applications to the web.  CLEAN_Address() is a development component to standardize and verify global addresses and telephone numbers for over 190 countries through a simple PL/SQL procedure call right in the database. 

Abstract:

This presentation will explore the technologies and strategies used to build Oracle based dynamic web applications.  It's divided in two parts. 

Part 1 is an "Overview of Web Technologies" used to build Oracle based web applications. This will cover the architecture, presentation layer, and application layer of several technologies, including JSP, Java Servlets, Java Applets, Cold Fusion, ASP (.Net), PHP, Perl, PL/SQL, PSP, and Orbit.

Part 2 will cover "Web Strategies and Solutions" in building web applications. This is a technical discussion about the mechanics of building transactional applications in thin client. Topics will include required skills, application flow, layout styles, handling GUI objects, transaction integrity, and security.

Eric Siglin called the meeting to order and welcomed all.

Eric asked if anyone knew of job opportunities.  No replies.

Some discussion of technology companies going offshore.

Pad was passed around for members to ask and/or give help with Oracle-related problems.
